Blinds.com Announces SimplyEco Cellular Shade Line Created from Recycled Plastic Water Bottles

September 30, 2020

It takes approximately 450 years for one plastic water bottle to completely degrade, according to National Geographic. And with more than 1 million plastic bottles being sold every minute, time isn’t on nature’s side. To help, Blinds.com has created a new eco-friendly cellular shade collection made from recycled plastic bottles: SimplyEco Cellular Shade Collection

“It takes about 12 recycled plastic water bottles to make one standard size SimplyEco shade,” says Amber Hall, vice president of merchandising at Blinds.com. “These new shades can help save money on energy bills and help save the planet from accumulating excessive plastic waste.”

Even cellular shades not made from recycled water bottles are still a good eco-conscious choice for the home. According to the Department of Energy, tightly installed cellular shades can reduce heat loss through windows by 40% or more in colder months, and reduce unwanted solar heat entering through windows by up to 80% in warmer weather.

“This new eco-conscious line demonstrates not just a high level of dedication to providing customers with style and function, but also a responsibility to our planet as part of the solution for keeping plastics out of our oceans,” says Amber. “We’re proud to add SimplyEco Cellular Shades to our lineup of popular window treatments.”

SimplyEco Cellular Shades features six classic colors with an expected expansion in 2021 of even more customizable options.
