Grow the Love this Valentine’s Day

February 12, 2020

A houseplant may not typically be the first thing that comes to mind when choosing a surprise for your valentine. To help share the love and shine a light on these long-lasting gifts, we’ve selected three low-maintenance red houseplants that won’t lose their bloom by the weekend.

Red Aglaonema

Known as one of the easiest houseplants to grow, the red aglaonema is looking for just a little water and any amount of light. The vivid red running along the edges of its dark green leaves provide a striking contrast.

Moth Orchids
These tall flowers come in a variety of colors. You can’t go wrong with white or pink and most even have a shock of red in the labellum (center). Choose one with more unopened buds and enjoy blooms for months after Valentine’s Day.

Bromeliads

This tropical plant offers bold red, pink and purple flowers that shoot up from its pot in a bed of green. Used to a warm environment, bromeliads do well in bright light with lots of water.
